The Arkansas Board of Trustees voted 7-3 to approve a resolution directing approximately $15M in additional annual funding to the athletic department, a move trustee Ed Fryar stated was necessary to reach the $25M roster budget coaching candidates indicated is required to compete in the SEC. The resolution mandates AD Hunter Yurachek allocate an incremental $5M annually specifically to football, while the university must identify $6M to transfer to athletics—potentially through student fees or tuition increases—and the department will retain an average of $4.4M it previously transferred back to the campus. Chancellor Charles Robinson and Yurachek told the board they had not seen the proposal until the morning of the meeting, prompting dissenting trustee Kevin Crass to criticize the process: “That’s amazing to me that the two people most impacted by this resolution have not been provided a copy of the resolution. Chair Eichler and gentlemen, that is not the way we should do business.” (
