We are only 1 game out of 4th place, winning against Hawaii is not expected, but also isn't unattainable. They just find a way to win. Don't really shoot it lights out or do much special on the offensive side, just make you work for every basket, block/alter shots inside. Leading scorer is 12 pts a game in Big West play. But they have been turning the ball over more recently.
If I was Acker, I'd make their guards work the entire length.

Lewis and Bender are finding some momentum. If we have Sykes back, and Lewis especially continues to be more confident with his open shots, it will help open up an already decent offense. I think we need to face the facts though. Even with a fully healthy team operating at its highest capacity, at best this is a mid level BW team. The team defense is subpar, team offense can be very good when Sykes is stroking shots. Our interior play is at best decent, at worst almost non existent except for Petar who really is an outside inside threat but he operates well in deep scoring and rebounding.
Lewis finding his offense seemed like a key to me. The next key is the team defense. It would have to improve leaps and bounds for the year's squad to have a chance at the upper tier of the BW.

If Sykes is out for several games, it will be a challenge to make the tourney. Also, I watched UCI vs Hawaii last night, and both teams look very good as both squads have tall, talented post players. Beating Hawaii tomorrow will take a very good effort from our team. Last night, UCR double-teamed Petar, and I am guessing Hawaii will do the same.
Lewis had another good game last night in Riverside. It seems like Diaz has faded a little, and now Lewis is surging, and several weeks ago the reverse was true.
