
Private equity firms only give a crap about one thing, profits in the short term. So they will take a hacksaw to an organization and chop out anything that doesn't make a profit. If this goes through, I'd expect Utah U to start cutting olympic sports.
It all doesn't matter really, all of this is going to be like a massive 150 car pileup on the 5 fwy in 0 visibility tule fog. A handful of vehicles (universities) will survive with no damage, a few handfuls with minor dings, a lot will sustain moderate to severe wreckage but might be salvageable, the rest will go to the wrecking yard.
U's with no $$ like LB are best to sideline and shore up what they can and watch the disaster unfold and sidestep whatever they can to survive until something with sanity returns to college level amateur athletics.
