He needs to be a starter, not some fill in off the bench or insurance. Hope he picks wisely because I bet he'll have a boatload of offers. He needs to add some strength, focus on defensive development, and just keep shooting man because he's maybe the best pure scorer we've had and he's got some ice in his veins. If he gets buried on some bench that will be to his long term detriment.
Maybe some highly funded whale will wash ashore at 'The Beach' and want to see at least one more year of Gavin Sykes as a 49er and offer up a nice pile of cash for the pleasure. It won't happen but I can dream.

It will depend on the amount of money he is offered whether he stays or not. He will be valued more than Askew or other LB players because he is a true frosh and may play 2 or more years at another school, and he's a top 10 scoring frosh in the nation. He surpassed Lucious Harris' frosh scoring record this year, and that will get him a lot of attention.

Sykes needs to be very careful in that if he goes to another bigger named team he won't be the man. Seems like most of our guys that have left didn't have the success they had at Long Beach. I hope he can play one more year but he is most likely gone. I would hate to see this kid just be another good player on a very good team.

Shocked! I will watch the replay later. Sykes is a monster, he'll get a huge payday it would be a bigger shock if he stayed one more season.

Awesome way to go out. Acker did get these guys to play hard all the time.

What a great game in Hawaii. Sykes loses his mind and goes off for 34 points and the Beach ends the season with a huge upset. Team showed a lot of guts and hopefully this can roll over to next year. I am sure we will lose a few guys but hopefully enough guys stay to make this a good team next year.
