Dan’s probably thrilled, weather isnt everything.
And that Fab4Ennis team beats most mid majors, probably does decent in a power league. Larry stays healthy, maybe we shut down Drew Gordon which would have been his primary. Casper was prone to trying to take over games and didn’t have it that day, maybe Larry keeps him a bit less trigger happy as well.

It was the best thing for Dan. Closer to his family and family coaching with him and his son still playing for him. Plus his team is in much better shape than LBS.

Oh yes, and he probably cashed out his Rossmoor home for big bucks and bought some nice acreage in EW. Of course, he could have kept it as a rental as it is likely mortgage free with his levels of compensation in his 17 years at LB.

My impression is that EWU is a good transitional gig for him. It allowed him to spend more time with his dad for the last year of his life. It allowed him to return to the region he knows best and where he probably enjoys the best comfort level. He gets to coach in a lower pressure gig as he moves toward retirement; addressing his competitive fire without the burden of LBSU's "issues" (budgetary, lack of strong and decisive athletic department leadership without a vision, lack of Presidential support, LBSU legacy, his own legacy - when the program under him was at its peak). He can be competitive in the Big Sky easier than the BWC. No USC, UCLA or nearby pro sports teams to compete with. He looks like he's slowed down too. Will he be "successful" at EWU? I think he will be successful in getting what "he" needs before he retires, and that isn't necessarily defined by wins and losses.

So anyone still want CDM back at the Beach?

I agree with you.

I watched the semifinal game. After about the first ten minutes of the game, Idaho controlled the game. EWU didn't show me much. Big Sky ball is boring. I stand by that even after watching the final game (UI vs UM) last night. The fab 4 team + Ennis would have destroyed either of those three teams.

They made it to the semi's but lost to Idaho 68 to 81
