In his 2 years at Eastern Washington he is 24-41.

Dan was not consistently winning for years at LBSU. Had a good run when he started but sank the later half of his career at the Beach.

Sorry but I must mention Dan Monson. He always lost a few players even before there was a NIL. He always found new players who could win. Who is the recruiter for the team . Seth had Clyde Vaughan.

The case to stay another year can be similar to the case made to come here in the first place. There is a reasonable case that while off the charts as a scorer (especially for a frosh), he is below average on D. Another year here can help him develop his overall game, keeping the core of the team together would bring a likely winning year, which would attract even better offers. Leaving now leave the possibility of spending a year on the bench as some P4 recruits over him.
If you have a problem with selling top recruits on starting here, with the likelihood of getting paid later, I think you are ignoring the reality of the current situation. We cannot compete with the P4 financially, but we have playing time to offer. If Sykes leaves, then trying to find the next really talented kid and offering him a chance to earn a central role means that we have a chance to get a level of player that has not been available in the BW in 20 years.

Can't blame the recruitment philosophy in the current environment. The important argument for developing players at the low-mid DI level is figuring out how to structure agreements with them for recouping some of the cost of that development. Like 10% per year of development of their first year of NIL income. This would have to be an NCAA wide practice though, you can't be the only program doing that.
If the current environment doesn't change much, I still think the only way for success is to instill a defensive minded philosophy and recruit a lot guys who are defense first including a couple point guard types. Sprinkle in 2-3 guys who can shoot over zones and/or create off the dribble. Thinking out loud about how to structure a program like ours that would keep half the non seniors around for at least one more year, while the replacement pieces are the more offensive minded guys who you assume 2 out of 3 will move on every year.
First thing LB coaches need to do is recruit better defenders and rebounders and focus early training on these areas. We've been garbage in these areas under Acker.

I agree, you are just bringing in players that are looking to leave before they even arrive on campus. IMO you need to build a program and if players leave so be it. Not encouraging players from the start that if they are developed here we expect you to leave. Offer value beyond money and hopefully some will stay longer than you internally expect them too.

Use us as a stepping stone not a landing spot. Don’t like the sell.

Not a chance. They are both gone unless their families are rich. We have nothing to look forward to next year. Even with both these studs we still finished next to last and missed the BWT.

Pray that Sykes and Majstorovic don't put their names in the portal.

Askew is an example of coming to LBSU and then leaving for more money. Telling recruits you can do the same by playing here.
