UT Arlington and Ark- Little Rock are floating as non football in the new UAC.
Also, look for teams like Portland State to lose football in the new athletic sphere. They seem to have some momentum in basketball, while football is a lost cause playing in a public field in the suburbs 30 minutes away. They avg about 1400 announced, played one game at their old home where MLS Timbers play, and announced over 9k.

My guess is they will do away with autobids in the near future. Why give conference champ a spot when a .500 acc/big east team can take it?

The problem with merging is you lose an auto bid in the process unless the NCAA changes its rules. The P4 do not care because they get a dozen invites but most mid majors get only one in a significant number of years.

The Big West will merge with another conference in the next 5 years. I wouldn’t get too caught up with movement at this point. It is getting too expensive for all of the schools and mega conferences are the way of the future. You will also see schools not only start cutting no revenue sports but football will be a huge problem for all schools(even those in the power 4 conferences). The losses are piling up and there is only so much tv revenue.
If you want to see what I am talking about look at how many Big 10 athletic programs are bleeding with the largest tv contract ever
