Long Beach State Sports : Re: Ed O'Bannon ruined college sports

One of the things that drew me to LBSU sports was watching young men and women grow on and off the court throughout the four year athletic timeline. For basketball that is now gone and I no longer buy season tickets or follow the team much anymore. If this trend continues I will do the same for the other teams I follow. No fun watching a revolving door of players coming and going before I even put a face to a name.

I am for selective excellence when funding programs at LBSU since there are limited dollars and success puts people in the stands with increased fund raising. Funding all programs to keep them on life support will just cause a slow death. I am also for raising student fees up to the top two or three in the conference. Nothing outrageous just upper tier. Said but student body size is the biggest asset the school has in raising dollars.

I know some my not share my opinion, that's fine, but the Lawsuit has ruined everything good about College Basketball and Football. I also blame the NCAA for being stubborn and not allowing students to share in revenue and maybe the lawsuit would have been averted. OBannon was a bust in the NBA and ended up being a car salesman in Vegas. Maybe he got millions from the suit, no idea. I don't know his intentions, but it's my opinion.

These kids are Semi Pro now and Education means very little. I don't blame todays players as life changing money is being given, doubt many are smart enough to save it and after their entourage of family memebers and agents get their share, maybe the players will have some left. I'm sure some players will have a good support system and will be wise as the NBA is a longshot

Regardless, it's ruined my enjoyment. I loved to follow recruiting, grow with players and that is gone. Basically, teams have a whole new roster and you need a roster to know who's , who. Unless Congress gets it's act together and tries to solve the issue, irreparable harm to Elite and Mid Majors will occur. Not every college has a Billionaire or multimilionare funding sports,

Side note, LSU has no one on their roster! Wow! You'd think some players would stay and have fun playing ball, but nope
