Link: Cockatiels and cold
I have a cockatiel, which is technically a grass parakeet from Australia, a land we also often think of as being always warm (not to mention assuming that this "exotic bird" was only accustomed to existing at warm and humid temperatures). But one of the things I learned is that in their native land, they're actually exposed to temperatures below freezing, even though in captivity these are not temperatures they're acclimated to.
Isn't it interesting the things you learn?
