My 21.7 yr old boy has been using the transdermal gel for a couple of years and is doing well. Hyperthyroidism also seems to help balance kidney values in older cats, whereas radiation of the thyroid gland may result in needing meds to stave off kidney failure. So I hope Easton does well on the gel too.

Instead of special cat wipes to clean the goop off before applying the next dose so that it can be fully absorbed, I buy unscented baby wipes on sale, cut one in quarters and store the other 3 pieces in a ziplock bag to keep them moist. You could cut an old washcloth into ~3"x3" pieces to dampen and use as wipes and wash them with your clothes.
