I'm no spring chicken and I'm alone too,and without furry companions for the first time in my life.

It was worse in late winter/early spring, standing in line at the grocery store with the wind cutting our faces and in fear for the future.

Spring helped somewhat, giving us hope with birds singing and flowers blooming, but now I can't help thinking with dread of the coming winter.
