I adopted a little old 14 yr old cat. She and some more animals had been left at a house that people had left. The new tenants didn't want them as they had their own animals so they were all going to the SPCA if homes couldn't be found for them. WELL! How much chance would a 14yr old have at the SPCA. ALL animal shelters are full to the brim and of course it Summer here so kitten season.
I got her on Monday evening. Took her to the vet on Tuesday afternoon. She had fleas, her heart sounded OK. Her kidneys did not feel enlarged, neither did her thyroid. She has slightly deformed front legs, vet thinks most likely arthritis or could be birth defect. She had her extremely long nails trimmed.
I isolated her in the bathroom for a few days, today I have moved her over to a spare bedroom so she has more room. Since she was 14 I decided not to change her name so it is still Cleo.
Pixie - who has settled in really well - is far too excitable to meet face to face so they have only met when one is inside a crate. It might take a while - if ever!
Cleo is not a "cuddly" cat but in the evenings she is happy to snuggle up by my leg on the couch. She is tiny 2.5kg
