It was actually a week ago - I had gotten the date wrong (and good thing I called to double check the time, because otherwise I would have driven all the way out there before I found out!).
Her bloodwork came back fine. All her organs are in good working order. Her kidneys aren't perfect, but that's not unusual for a cat her age. Nothing to be unduly alarmed about, though.
He actually didn't say anything about her teeth - just got the notation about mild tartar on her after report. But he REALLY hates the fact that I'm feeding her raw and spent some time talking about that.
But she's been on it for over ten years, and given that she's 15-1/2 with good blood work, I have a hard time being convinced it's awful for her. I'm very careful about handling, and cleaning surfaces to control contamination. It stays frozen in meal-sized portions with only enough thawed for each feeding. Whenever I hear the horror stories about sickness and such, if I'm able to get any background details, it often boils down to unsafe practices by the owner - nothing inherently bad about the food itself.
Of course, I didn't bother telling him all that (other than to say that I'm very careful about handling). I just let him do his lecturing and then we went on to the next subject.
So all in all, I would say it was a good checkup, and my girl is doing pretty well for her age!
