Really good so far!!! He's really improved. Can eat the small bits I give without crying at all. And can drink easily with no pain. He acts like old Steve too. Purrs, head butts, talks all the time happily. Still not 100 percent cause still eats somewhat gingerly. But I see improvement each day. Maybe by the time I'm done with the antibiotic he'll be all better. Thanks for the prayers. Keep them coming. And say some for Red. He's going in Wednesday and I'm very worried about him. He supposedly has IBD, but I don't know..., . He lost so much weight. He's just wasting away and nothing I do helps. The Forti Flora doesn't seem to help and I tried Benebec and that has not made a big improvement either. So say some prayers for him. And my friend who's still the hospital too if you can.

I had one with sore gums in his later years. I had him on the antibiotic off and on for years. It takes awhile before they stop expecting pain when they eat, I think.
It gets hard as they age to keep weight on. Kidney function is always one of the first things to go in my experience. My older cats get warm water on their dry food and when that is absorbed, I stir in canned. It keeps them full longer and I do that at least twice a day. I have two 17 1/2 years olds that are getting that now.

is Irritable Bowel Disorder. It's an immune disorder which gives inflammation in their stomach/bowel. What they eat either gets diarreha or thrown up. Several times a day. Hard to manage. Or...it could be cancer, but the only way we'd know that is by biopsy. Not going to do that. Can't change anything anyway.
So, I try buying all sorts of food, testing if any help. He does WANT to eat, so it's not like he isnt eating, just that he isn't getting the benefit of what he does cause it comes out and goes through him quickly. Sometimes very watery diarreha.
I try any food I can. Even deli meat, meat baby food, cooked chicken, grilled cheese sandwiches (which worked for a little while). I also buy baby cat food by Royal Canin, in cans and also their canned food for sensitive stomachs. Also try Critical Nutrition from the vet office in cans. I open a can of that a day and give him that too. He also gets FortiFlora (good bacteria in powder form in a packet) every day in his food or Benebec which is another version of that. Some days I'm lucky and the poo is almost normal, other days he goes back to the watery stuff.
He's losing weight, I'm thinking this is not good. I'm taking him in again on Wednesday, not that that will really change anything. We tried everything the last time the vet said. But at least he can see him. He lost a lot of weight since last time. So say some prayers we can do something to get him through this.
Red will be 15 in August, so he's reallyl not that old.
Just a small correction

IBD stands for Inflammatory Bowel Disorder.
I have IBS which stands for Irritable Bowel Syndrome.
People get them confused all the time (including me, until I was set straight rather firmly a number of years ago by someone who actually had IBD).
IBD is FAR more serious than IBS (although IBS is miserable, too - but it's not life-threatening in the same way that IBD can be).
Just wanted to set that straight. And I'm so sorry Red is going through this.
my error. I mistyped. He does have IBD, not IBS. It is due to inflammation. And I do think it's going to be his end at some point, unless we can turn this around.
Thanks for your concern too, keep the prayers coming.
