Hello to all...
I somehow lost my password and username for this board. I have it for BCC and thought it was the same. But anyway, as you saw, we lost our beautiful Princess. I wanted you to know she did so well after her cancer diagnosis. She had surgery but then after that, another bump came up. I decided not to put her thru multiple surgeries. The first time the incision was so big I just didn’t feel it was fair. I called the breeder where Debbie got her and she said that their life span is 12 years. At diagnosis she was 11. So we put her on medicinal mushrooms and immune support therapy and I do believe it gave her another year and a half of good quality of life. She only started to go downhill the last month. She started losing a lot of weight in Feb. I called my vet in Ohio and she suggest an anabolic steroid to ease pain, help with appetite and build muscle. I gave her that for one month but couldn’t tell that it helped. She was so thin you could see her ribs (she had no body fat to begin with so she couldn’t afford to lose any). She started limping. I took her to the vet her in Florida, and they said they didn’t think she was in pain. Then her back legs started swelling. Fluid retention. I assumed kidney fairlure but vet said cancer can do that. Yet, she still acted happy. She spent her days laying in the sun by the pool and snuggling with me at night. It was tearing us apart to watch her go downhill yet still enjoy her life. She never missed the litterbox. She was just a good girl. She wasn’t talking anymore like she did. Finally I prayed and asked God to let me know when it was time to let her go. The next morning she was bleeding from 2 teats...2 that were NOT originally involved in cancer. I told Dan, I think it’s time. She spent her last day laying in the sun and we took her in at 5 PM. It was the hardest day of my life...to look at her laying in the sun enjoying herself and knowing it was her last day. But I had to tell myself that I was saving her from suffering. THe vet said she had to be miserable as thin as she was. She said it probably took all her energy just to breathe. This has been soooo hard. At Debbie’s, she was with a lot of other cats and I think she was a bit stressed. At our house, she only had to contend with 2 others and she ruled the roost. TIme flies but she lived with Deb 2 years and with us 6 years. She really had a wonderful life with us. We both miss her so much. I am still grieving and been wanting to write but I don’t like to write on fb as it doesn’t seem as personal as on here. I know you all loved Deb and loved Princess. Me too. I’ve lost a lot of cats over the years and I know it gets easier with time but this is still raw and fresh and I’m so sad. Thank you all for listening to me. I know you all understand as you all love a special cat too. Blessings to all of you and your furbabies. I will try to post here more often.

It reminds me so much of Glory, right down to her having a good last day but still knowing it was time for her to go. My heart hurts for your pain, but we both know you gave her the ultimate gift of love.

You were one of the people I wanted to let know. I know it is horrible, sad news but I know also so many people cared for Princess and Deb (and me). Yes, the last day was so hard. But i just had to tell myself I was doing the best for her. I have a dear friend who is a religious advisor and he told me once...An easy death is a blessing from God. And so I told myself, She had an easy death...that is a blessing from God. But my heart felt like it had been literally torn into pieces. I am doing better now. I miss her so much and I am still crying but I know she isn’t hurting and hopefully in Deb’s arms now and playing with her Giles, the hansome Borg. So sad to lose all these sweet babies that we’ve come to love over the years...our own and those of others. Hugs to you Pat. I will try to post on this board and stay in touch with everyone. Thank you for your kind words and I’m sorry I made you cry.

That was not my intent at all!

I hope that in some small way, being able to share your pain helps make it a little lighter for you. It's never that easy, of course.

But this is a place you can come to share this sorrow where you know people will understand. Not always the case in "the real world" where you sometimes have to hide your pain because people just don't understand and can be critical, and that makes it even harder.

But in this place you can talk about it and always know you'll find support as you work your way through this sad journey that is grief. We all understand. And that is why we cry.

I DO find so much love and support here. That was why I was so determined to get on this board after losing my password etc. You all have been so kind to me and Debbie and I knew you all would understand more than anyone else, the pain I am feeling. So yes, it does help to know you feel my pain but i hate posting sad news. In the “real world” I feel like people probably think...”It’s just a cat” but we know...it’s not just a cat EVER. They are our family, our pride and joy. Princess was so beautiful, elegant, personable, loving, loyal...one of the best! She will be sorely missed. Tika is helping tho,,,she’s been very cuddly and supportive. For the first week, she barely left my side. She knew she was needed.

Patty, I read about Princess's passing on Facebook. She was such a beautiful girl and I know she brought you (and us) such joy. I loved the pictures of her lounging in the Florida sunshine. She seemed to be made for that life. All she needed was cabana boy to bring her catnip! LOL

You did all you could for Princess. She had a good life with you and was happy. You showed her the greatest love of all when you let go. I know she is keeping an eye on you!

It is so hard to let them go. And I know deep down I did the right thing and saved her from pain.
Yes, Meezers are very special. I had one in college and so did my husband. We both loved them so much. This was the first meezer then in years. They are so “needy”, clingy, talkative, they just become like your kid. It was at the point where we couldn’t leave her to take a vacation. She would mourn us being gone. I had to get a cat sitter that would give her tons of attention. They are just DIFFERENT. The pain is easing, slowly...

please do not have second thoughts about when her time came...you asked God to give you a sign, and He did...she is out of pain and looking down at you from the Rainbow Bridge, along with your other cats...she will be there for you when you make the trip over...remember the good times and her enjoying the sunshine...

You did so good for Princess. Thank you for taking Princess and giving her such a wonderful life. Deb would be so thankful for all you did too. I hope they are romping together happily now.

Patty, I do remember your Sister Deb. I am sorry about Princess. I really feel for you. I have had to see cats, loved members of my family leave me. I think we did. I take comfort in that. But I still want her here with us, but that is not to be. I read a really nice quote: Death is not extinguishing the light; it is putting out the lamp because dawn has come." I hope that the dawn led her to Rainbow Bridge and to Deb.
