over Sheila's passing.I wish I had known she was sick.Did anyone here know? I cant help feeling that we have been swept under the rug since the facebook grou was formed.You know,if we dont read it there,we just dont know.

Someone please tell me if Im making a mountain out of a molehill.Im just feeling so incredibly sad today.

The FB group didn't find out she was "seriously ill" until a few days before her death - and I mean literally a few days.

I knew sooner, but Sheila expressly asked me not to say anything to anyone. I thought it was because she wanted to tell folks in her own way and in her own time, but she never did. I respected her wishes and kept my promise.

and respected her wishes.I didn't to seem accusatory its just that it hurts so bad to know shes gone.

Thank you for saying that. I have felt very guilty about keeping my word - because so many people didn't have the chance to send their love one last time.

I didn't take your comment that way at all (accusatory). All I saw was the same pain and grief we are all feeling right now.

especially since she was such an unexpected and significant support for me when I first went through chemo. I don't participate in the Facebook group that someone set up, but occasionally see posts in my feed because I am friends with many in the group. That was how I found out she was in rehab (I had no idea) - so I was able to send a card, but I don't know if she received it before she passed :-( . That just makes me feel terrible, and I keep thinking about how she was always so attentive to everyone else.

In many ways, she represented the true heart of this community.

We've lost way too many, but losing Sheila really HURTS - all the more so because we didn't even know she was ill.

I too wish the FB page was not so popular - here I felt like I was part of the community - there it's just like being a cipher.

I was a member of this community even before the ACME page split into Acme for Dogs and Acme for Cats - so it is many years. So many are now gone. Feel sad as long as you want.

I hate what Facebook has done to communities like this. At times like this, especially.

But don't apologize for feeling sad. You are absolutely entitled to that.
