Hello! Is anyone here? I scrolled down and there seem to be very few. Shame on me for wandering off. I miss the old board and Black Cat. I will catch you up. I have one Persian left, 17 year old Talullah. She does well as long as I keep her on the L lysine gel twice a day, otherwise she's terribly sneezy/ snotty. She is still feisty and rules her young domestic short hair siblings with an iron paw. The first one to join us came from the front yard where she hung out unclaimed for days & nights before I brought her inside. The next 2 arrived as abandoned kittens from Lowe's garden center at a week old. A male I named William and his sister Gracie. A peaceful year then another kitten arrived who had been found in a glue trap at Lowe's. We are up to 5 and the welcome mat has been pulled in. I don't work anymore and the budget must be controlled. I left my beautiful small mountain town for hot Arizona. After 7 years I am still not acclimated to heat & fear I never will be. Air conditioning is a great invention and my friend! Why did I come to this place? My daughter and son in law are here.... My health remains good, that's a blessing. I see that Crinn has recently passed away, I'm sorry. Was she ill for long? So many have left us. I became interested in watching raptors, mostly Ospreys and eagles but also one hawk nest and Owls. So many nests stream on you tube now and I did join Facebook to enjoy the bird groups. At night I can check on a few European nests as they are 8 hours ahead. I have never seen anyone from here over there far as I know.I hope all who see this are well. My very best regards to you.... That's all for now. Bye ...❤
Yes, there are a few of us that don't use Facebook that come here to keep up with the old crew from Acme.
I currently have have eight that keep me busy. Four of them are under two years old and live- wires. My first generation of Bengals have all passed, after living into their late teens. I was missing their orneriness and found two sisters that were a year old being re-homed. The other two youngsters are twin black boys dumped at a cemetery in the hot July heat last summer. The older four are all rescues that bring so much joy to my life.
Too bad your family moved to such a hot climate. That would be a hard adjustment from the mountains.
Good to hear your update! Thanks for saving all those kitties. A glue trap? How awful! They are all very lucky kitties. We now have 12, much lower than our high of 30. And most are older, our two oldest are 18. We too were not planning on any more. But then last year a mother cat arrived with kittens and she died...well, we took in the three kittens and we couldn’t let them go. So here we are. But now, can’t take more. It wouldn’t be fair, I’ll be in my 80s if these live 18 years. But we love them so much and are glad we took kept them.
If you don’t like heat, why did you move to Arizona? My sister lives there. I don’t like heat, dry or not. So that wouldn’t work for me.
Watching birds especially big ones is fun. My married son is a big bird watcher. He lives with his binoculars . We live out in the country, he does too so he’s always looking out the window to see if he sees an unusual bird.
We see a lot here, no ospreys though. Here’s a couple pics I took just in the past couple months on our property. One was out our front window. Three turkey vultures lined up on our fencing. The other is a pair of Sand hill cranes in our back yard. Today birds, but next pics will be cats! 😉
Have fun bird watching! Stop by again soon, would be nice to see more activity in the board again. Post some pics too if you can.
yes, sadly there are just a few of us who come here, not like the old days when the board moved so fast you could hardly keep up. Everyone else has migrated to the FB page. Sounds like you have a very happy kitty family. I no longer have any cats - my last kitty, Zoe, died at age 17 a few weeks after my husband died. My (honourary cat - Mr Darick my GSD) won't allow me to have any other cat or any other dog, I suppose that's a good thing since I am now 81 and it wouldn't be fair, as my family nearly all live overseas, and my one daughter that lives here has her own cats and couldn't take a dog. I have made arrangements for Mr D.
Please come and visit us often, it is hard to keep the board moving, but nice to see "old" faces
Cats are like Potato Chips - you can't have just one
I grew up with Persians, silver tip Persians...I now have 2 shorthair girls, Mira and Ziba...they keep me busy, along with my volunteering at the SPCA....we are in middle of heat wave...and neither I nor the girls approve of this hot weather thing...ugh. Please post more, we would all love to hear from you.
