I mentioned a while back that my horse has been lame this summer. Well, about a month ago, I had a lameness specialist out to look at him, and after a 2 hour exam, he discovered a hairline fracture in his right front leg that had been healing for about 12 weeks! So that's the explanation.
Since it's been healing, he didn't prescribe I change anything - just continue with the very limited, very light riding, keep track of how he's doing, and schedule a followup.
The followup was Wednesday. And unfortunately, while I was waiting for him, I became suddenly ill and had to leave.
Which - as it turns out - didn't matter, because he never showed up. Turns out their appointment software was all messed up and I wasn't even on the books for Wednesday. So we have to re-schedule. Sigh.
Oh - and the suddenly ill part? Turns out I was reacting to the flu shot I'd gotten that morning. I called the nurse, and it is listed as a possible reaction. Rare, fortunately, because I got REALLY sick! (Still recovering). But I know others who have gotten the same shot after I did and they're fine, so don't let this turn anyone off to getting their vaccine.
But I'm sure frustrated. Got a flu shot to avoid losing work days over getting sick, and ended up being out for two days anyway. Sigh.
So still waiting for the followup appointment to find out how my horse's recovery is going. Whatcha' gonna do?
We are fine...nothing new here...msg

Spending a lot of time volunteering at the SPCA... this week we launched our low cost wellness clinic, open once a week...it fills a void between our free vaccine clinic and the full service hospital...they offer low cost vet exams, a wider range of vaccines (bortadella, leptospirosis, canine flu) and some higher end flea products at reduced rates...they also offer low cost end of life...
