We took my sweet Maggie to the vet for bad teeth he referred us to a surgeon for her dental work...
My daughter and I left her at the hospital and was told if they found anything in her blood work they would call....
No call as we waited for it then the damn phone rang, I thought ok her kidneys were messed up...
Can you imagine the shock when he told me they found a tumor and he said he was very worried....
The biopsy came back as squamous cell carcinoma.....I am so sick at heart....
I've lost so much these past couple of years....
Maggie is the other half of The Heathens... If you remember I lost her brother, Spencer last May then I lost my beautiful Summer in Dec...
I lost my only sister this past March now I am going to lose my Maggie....
I'm just broken......

When we are ready to turn the corner and make it on our own...they let us go.

It’s very hard. We recently lost our beloved Whitey to cancer. But we had him 7 months from the time of diagnosis. I hope you and Maggie still have a good amount of quality time left.

you are going through so much loss. It is so hard and nothing we can do to change it. I had several bad years like that because many of mine were about the same age. Enjoy the time you have left and try to keep the inevitable from your mind. She sure is a beauty.

Not only do we not get used to the losses, but it gets harder with each one. You think nothing can hurt you anymore, but it does.

There's a poem that has marginally helped me put things in perspective and has helped others I've sent it to.

There simply are no words to comfort or lessen the hurt. All I can say is that I truly understand your pain.

I have never been able to fully process the loss of Ali, and am still heartbroken about my Yoko. For the past few years, knowing and trying to accept her advancing age, I've been trying to prepare myself. That was a luxury I didn't have with any of my others. I knew that it was a matter of time, but my greatest fear was not knowing when - and I was so scared that it wouldn't be peaceful.

In that, I am extremely fortunate. I wasn't prepared, but had had sufficient time to at least be aware of the clock ticking. Neither she nor I were ready, but her body was.

Cherish each and every day with your sweet Maggie
