I started using oral GSH a little over 5 years ago. I had pretty good results with it....weight gain, energy boost, pft's went up a bit, got sick less often and when i did get sick it wasnt as severe . I was taking 4000 mg. per day(1000mg. 4 times a day spaced about 4 hours apart) I was on it for a while and only started to lessen the dose ( to 1500 mg.) for financial reasons . When i was diagnosed with the aspergilloma ( fungus ball) i dramatically lowered the dose to 500 mg once a day, due to the idea that if you have a yeast problem you shouldnt take GSH. Well the past year or so i have been having a hard time staying well and these last two hospitalizations April of this year and also this month have landed me on oxygen which really scared the crap out of me. I talked to my Dr. about GSH and told him about my results with it before and he agreed i should go back on it, but just stay at half the dose i was doing at that time (which would be 2000 mg. per day). I hope and pray this helps me get over this hurdle and helps me to start getting well and staying that way. For the first time in my life i am having trouble gaining weight, but i think that has a lot to do with being in the hospital.... the food is awful and i just can not eat as much as i would like. Plus being on 3 iv antibiotics, and 3 orals at the same time kinda makes my appetite not so great. I remember while i was on GSH my energy level was really good, and my appetite was also good so that will be of great help in getting better. ------------------------- ~ Diane 43 / cf / diabetes / b.cepacia |
