Several months ago I was told John had B. Cepacia and at this point I’m not convinced GSH is a bad thing with Cepacia. From all indications thus far, the Cepacia has significantly increased John's need for GSH. He had been coughing more than usual when the news came and the coughing continued. We stopped the inhaled GSH due to the warnings about its use with B. Cepacia. But, I experimented with the oral GSH dose and bumping down the oral dose only made his coughing worse (completely dry and unproductive). Bumping up the dose, much to my relief, decreased the coughing significantly. I would not say his coughing is down to what it was before the Cepacia, but it is much better. Right now, John is taking 2000 mg of GSH per day. Before the Cepacia, he only needed 1200 mg per day. |
