Haley 12 has had a year of declining lung function. almost 25% since January. She also had a battle with micobacteria abscesses around 2 years ago. The MA was mostly beat with amikasin with no ugly side effects (we took GSH throughout the ordeal for organ protection).
Now the MA is back along with PA. She went on 6 weeks of IV meds including a week in the hospital that ended 11.23. Her exit PFT exam showed no change at all. We requested no meds and went home.
Back in May I stopped all GSH due to dropping PFT scores and no explanation. We stayed off GSH until 11.23. Obviously being off and totally relying on IV meds was not working so we started full force oral and inhaled GSH 11.23. Thinking that instead of stopping we should have doubled up on GSH.
We were told to expect to check back in the hospital on our next visit which was today.
Today, her scores went up 18% FEV and 15% on two others. The Dr was surprised. She ask me which IV meds we were sent home on. I reminded her NONE! She just starred for a moment with no comment (due to previous conversations with our DR we have chosen not to discuss GSH further).
We still have not seen a full recovery and still could need some amikasin therapy (we have not taken any amikasin as of yet this time). We go next week to see the MA specialist we have seen before. However, he may be just as surprised when he sees our new pft scores.
Blessings to all.
