My philosophy is that they don't know which flu strain will be the epidemic one, and so you get vaccinated for something that may or may not even be the flu bug you should be worried about. Also, some folks do get a mild version of the bug. We have never given it and never had cause to regret it, but I am sure others might have the opposite view.
