When I came back to my senses, standing in that dark swamp, it took me a minute to realize that my wife was not on board with me but waiting at the airport. In that brief minute I would learn that the trauma of an untimely loss of a love one is far greater than even extreme physical pain. I've learned to treat every day, every hour, as a gift that should be shared with those we love. A father's love for his child would offer nothing less.
