Re: VW-4 1956 to1960
My late husband, Maurice Tipton, was with the squadron at that time also. One of my favorite stories from that era is the flight when VW-4 dropped Brango's tracking equipment (called affectionately, I'm afraid, Brango's Balls) into the eye of a storm. Maurice swore they dug squid out of the engines when they got back to base.
Looked up Howard Emery recently (the "Long Emery", as differed from the "Short Emry" in the squadron). Looks as though he is still alive and flourishing in Panama City, FL.
