And that trend is simply that of "roots rock", which I don't see why we can't classify both Little Feat and the Eagles as more or less belonging to, without causing insult to anyone involved. Both bands based their music on traditional blues, folk and country motives, eventually incorporating funkier rhythmics and modern production techniques, and based their lyrics largely on traditional American themes of transitory living and loving, Mexico associated with easy women and outlaw life, the vanity of fame and money and especially Hollywood etc. etc.
This is not an evaluation of their respective values, nor of course an adequate analysis of their respective identities.
If all you want from me is to say that Little Feat are one of the most idiosyncratic and inventive American bands of the 1970s, and the Eagles are not, then absolutely buddy, I agree 100%.
