THere simply is no need to re-record old Genesis songs with vocalist who simply are less talented than Peter GAbriel and simply putting all the GEnesis Revisited II tracklisting using the original Genesis songs would simply be a better album than the actual CD.
The world doesn't need re-recording of old songs with identical arrangement.
However there is a value of hearing Steve Hackett playing Genesis classics live. So people can have a approximation of seeing Genesis live by seeing Steve Hackett an original member of the group reprroducing Genesis classic live and in person that they can never otherwise experience (unless a time machine is invented). People with nostalgia seeing Steve Hackett playing a set fulll of Genesis song has value, a studio re-recording of the song have close to zero value.
The existence of GRII doesn't overshadow this album. THis live album shows the ridiculousness of GRII in the first place and should absolutely replace it as the album to buy if anyone is interested in Steve Hackett playing Genesis songs.
If Steve Hackett just toured playing solely Genesis songs live without GRII ever been release, would anyone care? Of course not
