I was waiting for someone to flame you for your Zooropa review, but maybe you made too compelling an argument for it. As for me, I won't flame you because I was pleasantly surprised by your rating. On the first listen, I expected to hate it and did, but then on the second listen, found myself enjoying these songs almost against my will. Hell, I even like "Numb" - if there was ever a time where a song was so stupid, it was kind of brilliant, this is it. I can understand why people don't like Zooropa because it's so weird it can be offputting. But I see that as a strength and 21 years later, it doesn't sound dated to me or like they were just chasing trends. And given the group's pompousness that was only destined to intensify, it's amazing how little of the typical self-serious U2 is here - this is a really lightweight, dare I say, poppy album.
