The difference between Utopia and Rundgren solo is uh... what exactly? Utopia are generally thought of as being more prog and experimental and Todd's solo work is more poppy. But then why are Deface The Music, and Oops Wrong Planet Utopia albums and Initiation, Todd, and A Wizard solo albums? They all sound like they came from the exact same guy.

The real issue should be: Does the album by The New Cars count as a Rundgren album? I'm here to ask the tough questions.
