Pretty much agreed on NMH. Aeroplane has a lot going for it and it's a generally interesting record. But it's not always interesting in the greatest ways. The biggest issue IMO is that "Oh Comely" mostly fails at being the epic centrepiece it's desparately trying to be. It's not a bad song, but it's framed as the big emotional climax of the album, and it can't quite deliver on that promise.
Yeah, that conspiracy album is pretty bleh. I spun it a couple times a while back and came to the conclusion that the best songs were all the songs that Yes had already done, but the Yes versions were better so there's no point in listening to these versions. And the rest is just ehh whatever. Sherwood's Yoso and Circa projects with Tony Kaye, Jimmy Haun, and Alan White always kind of had me curious too. But not curious enough to actually check out any of the albums that they made.
I've always felt that the band Moose carried on a similar sort of sound to The Stone Roses sound really well. Really great hazy brit-pop. They lack the dance influence the Stone Roses had, but they're pretty similar in a lot of respects.
Looking forward to the XTC page!
