I think the new album is pretty good! John, you said it was forgettable but I'm really surprised by its quality. It's very short, with 8 songs and only around 30 minutes of playing time, but I think only one song is actually bad ("Lose Your Love", which is a terrible addition to his string of "Say You Love Me" rewrites) while in my opinion there are four great songs: "In My Mind", "Simply Magic", "Love Passed Me By", and the title track, despite its embarrassing spoken word introduction. The others are pretty decent as well, and I actually enjoy the nostalgic numbers "Those Days In Birmingham" and "(You Drive Me) Crazy". I think most everything on here (other than the one lowlight) would be a welcome addition to a fictitious 2015 Moody Blues album. I definitely think it's better than Natural Avenue, and it's way better than I expected. So whenever you do review this album expect my dissenting reader comment to follow! |
