You totally hate him, and I get that, especially after listening to his time with Van Halen and solo, but his band that preceded VH in the mid-'70s are pretty decent. Montrose, named after their guitar player Ronnie Montrose (who did a bit of session work for Van Morrison of all people in the early '70s) are a heavy blues-rock band. I've only ever heard their 1973 debut, but it's good, definitely a 9 or an A on your scale.
