I really enjoyed the episode of Emerson Lake Palmer. The joke at the beginning was fun as well as anti-ELP joke punk song at the end as well as the armadillo tank being the tank in the album. I知 also surprised by your baritone voice as well John.
Regarding the album, I would say that the debut had some great songs but marred by Tank and unforgivable drum solo. Amanda was almost correct when she mention the exception for good drum solo to be Ringo痴 The End but she also included tank as an exception which I can稚 abide by.
Regarding your Bartok defence. It痴 funny how you defended Bartok by arguing against accusation that Bartok was too old fashion with his commitment to folk music and how the modern composer who were supposed to replace him turned out to be unlistenable.
What about accusation that Bartok was too modern and butchered otherwise fine sounding folk melodies with 20th century harmonic language? :)
Listening to Bartok string quartets (I heard all six of them with three different recordings. Hungarian, Takacs and Emerson Quartet) Basically just summarised it as modernist garbage that has small moments of interesting folk melodies interpersed within it. The only time the quartets are listenable when there are sections of monophony where there is a single string instrument playing a single line
