I'd agree with most of that, personally I feel like when they settled into the long-standing lineup with Rudess after Falling Into Infinity and said "#### producers" was when things sort of started sliding.

A band like that really need(ed?) an outside voice to tell them "maybe tone the carnival noises and such down a bit"
