I like every song, though I can definitely see "The Man Who Sailed Around His Soul" annoying someone. I'll listen to it more cynically next time. I really need to listen to more of their output. The only other album of theirs I've ever heard is English Settlement, which I remember liking, but it's been ages ago.
I don't disagree with the "empty Beatles pastiche" comment, but Beatles pastiche implies great melodies and interesting arrangements, and XTC certainly delivers on that, so for me that's enough without even considering the track sequencing and loose album concept, which I'm a total sucker for.
