"To the Moment" is quite good. The synth string tone does undermine the power of the riffage a bit, but the overall effect is still entertaining. I'm definitely glad this track saw the light of day. "Words on a Page" is dull for the most part. The climactic slide guitar solo belongs in a better song. "From the Turn of a Card"... it's interesting how Benoît David in his lower register sounds like Chris Squire. Not much more to say here. Aaaand here comes the big one. "The Gift of Love" is a sprawling ballad in the vein of "Brother of Mine". It's a bit harder to get into than that one, and I'm not sure it's worth the effort. I really like the piano towards the end, though. By the way, it's hilarious how many elements "The Game" (by far the best song on Heaven & Earth) recycles from "The Gift of Love"! Though, I think "The Game" might actually be the more successful track due to making better use of the material. I note that Heaven & Earth has been quietly dropped from Spotify... |
