They're not essential for your first pass through the page, but if you do a future revisit for the Archives releases, I recommend the two contemporaneous live albums. Miles of Aisles feels like the start of jazz Joni, and Shadows and Light is a fun closing note for that period with not only Jaco, but Pat Metheny and Lyle Mays backing her.
