Hey John, curious if you've heard/what your thoughts are on any of the bands in the so-called "Windmill Scene" (bands that all got their start at a UK club of the same name). Examples include black midi (and their frontman Geordie Greep), Squid, and Black Country, New Road. They tend to have a sound heavily influenced by prog/post-punk/jazz.

While a lot of it isn't for me, there's a huge amount of Soft Machine, King Crimson, and Talking Heads in much of their music. Might be of interest to you if you haven't checked it out. Fair warning though - it's pretty abrasive both musically and (especially) lyrically.
