Semper Fidelis
From not seeking aid for dealing with memories/nightmares.
And seeking answers in a bottle.
You might also be questioning the reason of your survival.
I did that, till one day I came to realize, I had no control on events that happened.
Times, I would wonder;
"What if we not gone that direction or not gone out at all".
That young Lance Corporal would still be alive today.
Most likely he would be a granddad.
"What if we had left later that day in October of 1967, we might not gone down that path".
That led to a platoon of Hotel Company, 2nd Battalion, 1st Marines getting ambush and many Marines dying and getting wounded.
"What if we not gone on a Sparrow Hawk down to Que Son valley"
That PFC would be alive today, he too most likey would be a granddad today.
But I had no control of events that led to their deaths.
Why did I survive a world of madness and insanity?
I wish I knew the answer.
Maybe so I could be here to give you this personal message.
Slow down, you have a whole life-time to live.

It must be forged, tested and used.
It must be passed down.
And woven into the very fabric of our souls.
Until it becomes our nature."
