This message board is in support of members of the Marine Corps and their relatives, and friends
Early in February of this year, I discovered Molly Ivins, and I was planning to make this message about some of her quotes.
She knew the president's background and how he has behave as governor of Texas.
Next, I discovered that some Marines, were calling other Marines, who they disagreed with a bunch of pissants.
Which really is a put-down;
PISSANT
One that is insignificant --
Used as a generalized term of abuse.
Pissant is now chiefly used in the figurative sense 'A worthless or insignificant person or thing',
Found since about the turn of the century.
little no-life weasely loser who amounts to nothing.
That led to my creating this web page;
http://www.geocities.com/millrat_99/real_marine.html
There a part there on our Marine Corps Core Values, especially under Honesty.
Honesty in word and action,
Clarifying possible misunderstanding caused by silence or inaction when you should speak up.
Tell the truth.
Seeing the word "Truth" led to my seeking the mean of the word, I found this interest quote;
You shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you mad.
Aldous Huxley
We can't even agree what the word "truth" really means or from what origin did it get it's meaning.
So I decided to write this, It will take moral courage to do what right.
Yet some will question our "Honor" but our moral courage will call for us to do or say what we believe to be right.
To do less, would not be in keeping with "Marine Corps core values, that are the guidelines by which every Marine lives his or her life."
Later I made this;
It expresses how I feel in regards to being called or labeled a pissant.
We will finish this with a few quotes by Molly Ivins;
"War costs hell's own money.
Sooner rather than later,
It will be much cheaper
For us to conserve energy,
Than to kill tens of thousands people."
"The Republic has sunk to such a state,
That our public servants not only lie,
But brag about it, and even consider it,
Thier main function,
Damage control, deniability, spin and turn."
"Watch the 'spin doctors' at work is fascinating:
The first step is to blame the media for everything."
In her definitive work - Southern Ladies and Gentlemen,
Florence King observes,
"The cult of southern womanhood...
Requires [a female] to be frigid, passionate, sweet.
b###hy, animated, and scatterbrained,
All at the same time...
A horrifying number of us succeed
Which accounts for that popular,
southern female pastime,
Having a breakdown."
And there it is!
