I been doing a bit of reading; BATTLE READY by Tom Clancy, with General Tony Zinni and Tony Koltz.
Some Zinni-isms
"In the lead up to the Iraq war and its later conduct,
I saw, at a minimum, true dereliction, negligence, and irresponsibility;
At worst lying, incompetence, and corruption.
False rationales presented as a justification; a flawed strategy;
Lack of planning, the unnecessary alienation of our allies;
The underestimation of the task; unnecessary distraction from real threats;
And the unbearable strain dumped on our overstretched military,
All of these caused me to speak out."
General Tony Zinni USMC
"In the hospital, I was seeing how my Marines were dealing with their own wounds.
And on the TV I was watching images of my Marines fighting for other Marines.
I was watching how we all care for each other, and how they cared for me.
The moment took my breath away.
Suddenly, all of what the Marine Corps mean in itself and as an institution came home to me.
These were my Marines. That's the only way I can put it.
These were the guys I wanted to lead and care for. I loved my Marines.
They're the greatest treasure America has.
There were times later on when Iwas tempted to get out.
But ultimately that's why I stayed in."
General Tony Zinni USMC
"I vowed long ago to a wounded young lance corporal in Vietnam that I would never shrink from speaking out.
If it required an end of my career, so be it."
General Tony Zinni USMC
"Moral courage is often more difficult than physical courage."
General Tony Zinni USMC
"If you make a mistake, the troops have to pay for it with their blood."
General Tony Zinni USMC
"Our political and military leaders must be held accountable for their mistakes."
General Tony Zinni USMC
"Creditability is lost in their eyes if their leaders are silent when things are not right."
General Tony Zinni USMC
"You can't lead unless you love those you lead."
General Tony Zinni USMC
"What's the real measure of success?"
General Tony Zinni USMC
"All people come in three parts; body, mind, and spirit."
General Tony Zinni USMC
"Things I would die for; my faith, my family, my friends, my freedom, and my flag."
General Tony Zinni USMC
"Words like integrity, ethics, honor., need to be lived and not just uttered."
General Tony Zinni USMC
" If you don't listen, they will be polite, but you can forget about their respect."
General Tony Zinni USMC
Why the above?
My way to remember what we really celebrate on the 25th of May -Memorial Day...those that gave their alls so we might have our todays.
On the 26th of May will be my son birthday.
Which brings me to Lupe's birthday on the 8th of May.
I should have post something before Mother's Day.
I will now post something about the woman, who's the mother of my son Brian.
ENDLESS LOVE
By Lionel Richie
My love,
There's only you in my life
The only thing that's right
My first love, (yeah)
You're every breath that I take
You're every step I make
And I
(And I-I-I)
I want to share
All my love with you
No one else will do...
(uuuuuh uuuh)
And your eyes
Your eyes, your eyes
They tell me how much you care
Ooh yes, you will always be
My endless love
Two hearts,
Two hearts that beat as one
Our lives have just begun
And Forever
(Forever)
I'll hold you close in my arms
I can't resist your charms
(no no no no noooo)
And love
and, love
I'll be a fool
For you,
(noney) I'm sure
You know I don't mind
Oh, you know I don't mind
'Cause baby you,
(baby baby baby baby)
You mean the world to me
Oh
I know
I've found in you
My endless love
yeee ee eeeee
Oooh-woow
do do do do do
do do do do do
do do doo doo
Oooh, and love
Oh, love
I'll be that fool
For you,
I'm sure
That You know I don't mind
Oh you know-
I don't mind
And, YES
You'll be the only one
'Cause no one no one can deny
This love I have inside
And I'll give it all to you
My love
My love, my love
My endless love
Happy Mother's Day and Happy Birthday Lupe.

It must be forged, tested and used.
It must be passed down.
