On reading 'Lima-6' than Marine Captain Dick Camp states that one of the first thing he did was get those ammo belts back into the ammo steel boxes.
To insure that there would be no jams, but looking at from the view of the grunt that had to carry all that ammo.
It make's sense leaving those boxes behind.
This film about covers the Viet Nam part of 'Full Metal Jacket'.
That was based on the story 'The Short-Timers' by Gustav Husford.
It also shows the misery of the Vietnamese people, women willing to sell their bodies to make some money.
Hunger, and diseases was the lot of many Vietnamese.
I think, I will watch one per day, there is not enough time for everything.
