There was a post about Lee Marvin being on Iwo Jima.
But reading his biography and then finding this;
Lee Marvin enlisted as a private 1st class with the Marine Corps in 1941. He fought at the battle of Saipan in June 1944, and was wounded in the butt by Japanese fire which severed his sciatic nerve. He was invalided home shortly afterwards.
I think that he was medically discharged.
I've look all over the web for something saying that he was on Iwo Jima, but to no avail.
He did the voice on a video about the Invasion of Iwo Jima.
Well knowing this.
I thought there's really no harm in what was posted.
But my DW told me the other day "Tell the truth!"
So what's a poor soul to do?
