What does one say to a love, who has passed away?
I meant to say many things to you.
Now, it's too late as you have left.
You were my first "Love" as a young man.
I enlisted in the Marine Corps and our love
Could not stand the strain of been apart.
You found another.
Then there was another, you had a child.
That child died because drugs were more important.
You spend sometime in prison.
While I was serving overseas.
I then went to Vietnam.
You were always on my mind.
I survived that hell,
Because I want to see you again.
I wanted to tell you that you were the reason.
For my survival.
But it never was the right time.
We wed other people.
My love for my wife is strong.
But there will always be room for the "Pirate".
Thanks God that we were able to see each other later in life.
We spoke of our friendship,
You, "At least we're still friends!"
Me, "Yes we're still friends!"
I will always be your friend.
Till we meet again.
May God grant you peace my dear "Pirate"

It must be forged, tested and used.
It must be passed down.
