This heat hasn't helped either. Moving the feeders into what I hoped were cooler spots didn't work. Even in what shade I did find had the feeders and the nectar in them, most too hot to handle.
This spring and summer saw the fewest hummers since I put feeders out in 2017.
I will be buying hummer feeders with moats from now on. Plus I will be buying bird feeders that stand up to multiple bird types & sizes.
Of course the squirrels will have better feeders also.
None of the bird feeders I had bought held up under the multi bird/squirrel attacks of the past two years.
I hope to have the feeders in places that allow me to continue enjoying watching all the live action outside my kitchen window.
Christmas will be one of gifting the critters outside my home with feeders perfect for each type and size. Hopefully ones that don't suit ants and mice. 8-)
