We had an even bigger change in weather this week. At first, it just stayed chilly at night, and hot during the day, but only for a few hours. The sky was mostly blue, and there were pleasant breezes. We opened windows and doors, which gave us a nice cross breeze. At least between noon and 4ish. I was literally basking in it, it was so lovely.
On Friday, though, it was just plain cold. It was 64 in the sun at 2:30. It jumped to 80 by 3 when the clouds...white and black...parted, but right afterwards it dropped dramatically, and was in the mid-50's within' 30 minutes. By the time it was dark, it was below 50's, and right now it's in the 30's. Brrr! It looks like November has arrived suddenly.
Unfortunately, it was cold inside, too, because the generator had been off.
We did get a bit of rain, but not a lot. One interesting thing was that I didn't know that it was raining. I thought that I was hearing wind, but when I looked out of the window, the trees weren't moving.
My surprise was that I thought that I'd hear it on the roof. Because my house is sprawling, rather than stacked, and has a 5' overhang almost completely around it, I've got a lot of roof! But, I couldn't hear it on the roof at all.
It's been pretty productive with getting the hens into their new houses, and having the painter out on Monday.
I also reunited my camera with it's battery. There's another somewhere, but we can't find it. I found my camera bag, and it's completely empty! It's never been empty! I keep chargers, extra batteries, extra cards, lens cloths, and even filters. So, I'm taking this opportunity to wash it, and will fill it as my items are re-found, if they ever are. At least I have my camera.
There are still more things to be done than we can manage in a short time, but we're working on it. Such as moving the materials for the turkey to have a new run up here, and putting something solid over the chicken run for when it really does rain, but one thing at a time. First, caulking those screws in the siding to get it primed.
My to-do list looks like Santa's nice and naughty list, it's so long! So, stay tuned!
Uhura has decided that sleeping on Dh is not so bad. She is up to 1/2 an hour, and one afternoon, over an hour. When Dh was outside, and she found herself inside, she called and paced for a short while, then jumped into my lap.
I didn't make eye contact, continuing to watch a dumb commercial that I didn't care about until she began kneading. Then, she laid down, ears up, and finally put her head down and fell asleep in my lap. That lasted just under half an hour...until Dh came in the door, lol! She was right on him for her treat food for the night. Still, major progress!
Ds found 2 small pumpkins for the girls. They got 1/2 each (adults and youngsters.) the first day, and had a great time with them. They will get the 2nd one today!
I'm not sure what's going to happen with Mamou and his side-kick Tux. They are stubbornly staying on the porch of the old house. When they see someone, they are ecstatic.
I thought that we could stop feeding them there, and they would come up, but that was a failed experiment. I've got a new plan, which will hopefully work.
We saw great numbers of crows this week, but they seem to have moved along, which is okay by me!
There was also a gathering of turkey vultures. But, they too left.
We saw a bluebird (not a bluejay.) for only the 2nd time in 31 years.
Also, we had a beautiful buck in the front yard one afternoon. We haven't seen any in the past few weeks.
I've been able to use a 'Holiday' tote. So far, I've got a few bows, ribbons, and one pack of birthday paper in it. Also, 2 decorations. It's a start, and I may find a couple more things to add, as I go.
My new clothes finally came! I'm so glad to have a couple of changes! They seem to run a little large, but since I'm trying to stay warm, as well, it's okay. I'd sure like to find some of mine soon, though.
Well, that's all for the moment here. How was your week?
