Rodney Alcala appeared to be the perfect bachelor when he appeared on the matchmaking TV game show, The Dating Game. But little did anyone know that "bachelor #1" was one of America's most dangerous serial killers. Alcala was at the peak of his killing spree when the episode was filmed. Alcala won the competition, and a date with "bachelorette" Cheryl Bradshaw, who fortunately refused to go out with him because she found him "creepy".

Although Folgers has been around for over 150 years, the catchy jingle that everyone seems to know wasn’t created until 1984. Composed by Leslie Pearl, this tune has been re-sung over and over again by musicians such as Randy Travis, Aretha Franklin, Ritchie Havens, and Rockapella. The jingle has been used in almost every advertisement created by Folgers since 1984, making it one of the longest-running jingles of all time.
