Stuffing made from bread, cornbread, or rice? I always liked and made, bread. We will see this year, though!
What type of russet potatoes? Mashed or baked? Or....? Mashed because, well, gravy!
Sweet potatoes - Baked whole or casserole? I've actually had both, and liked them, but my preference is either candied, like my grandmother and mom made them...or slices layered with butter, brown sugar, etc. and baked.
Vegetable - The Green Bean Casserole, or regular green beans? Or, peas, corn, or....? Green bean casserole of I get my druthers. If I can't, then peas with pearl onions are nice.
Bread - Round rolls or crescents? Crescents.
Jello - The Green Jello Mold, or other? Green.
Gravy, brown or another type? Brown, Except if we could have Kentucky Fried Chicken gravy, back when it was good enough to drink!
Cake or pie? Pie.
If pie...pumpkin or apple? Cherry or pecan? Chocolate or....? Pumpkin, pecan, and chocolate.
Appetizers - Dip with crudite or chips? Chips, though I like cherry tomatoes, etc.
Crackers with a cheese ball, or Cheez Whiz? I like crackers quite a bit, and I've had a lot of cheese balls in my day, some better than others. But, I've only had crackers with Cheez Whiz a very few times, and liked the combination of the American-y, salty taste with the crackers. So, I'd take that this year!
Flavored nuts, fresh, or sugared? I like them all, but am a sucker for bbq coated almonds and such, so I'll say flavored this time...if I could still eat nuts, of course!
Fruit salad, ambrosia, or sugared grapes? All are good, but if my mom's recipe was used, right now I'd choose ambrosia with the cheesecake-like flavor. (If anyone needs the recipe, let me know, as I still have it. She was so happy that you guys liked it.) That's probably because I'm hungry right now. At a feast I would have to take sugared grapes to make sure that I could have some of everything. Ambrosia, which I never had until adulthood, is sweet and heavy compared to grapes!
A note about a good idea. People make ambrosia all different ways...with canned fruit, with fresh fruit, with cream cheese and whipped cream or yogurt, etc. And, while more people add the little marshmallows, not everyone does. I recently saw one that caught my eye, and could be made for many occasions, birthdays, wedding showers, and especially baby showers.
Make it however you like, but when it's time to add the small marshmallows, use the multi-colored pastel ones, then finish with them over the top! It looks very shower-y, or birthday-like...just a thought!
Cranberry sauce - homemade or canned? Either. I like my versions, and it's not hard to make, but I'd eat canned, also.
Is there anything else that must be at a full Thanksgiving dinner, in your opinion? For example, corn casserole or great aunt Agnes' best cookies? How about ice cream or pudding? Not that I can think of, off the top of my head. Oh, sorry, condimenty items...olives, for example. I can have the meal without them, but do like the briney contrast to the heavier meal.
