The siding is doing okay, I think? We dropped a tarp over the part that's not under an overhang. I can't look under it until the rain stops, or it's primed, so I don't know how it's doing there.
Colors, eh? Hmmmm. I guess that it depends if it's to wear, or paint my walls with, lol! If just in general, for what makes me happy, or if I was taking a quiz, I'd say warm lavender, melon, mango, yellow, and a pretty blue. Not all blues are pretty.
I also like earth tones for some things...certain browns and greens, etc. And, I think that I look best in warm tones, except orange/corals/yellows...chocolate brown, reds, etc. and black. That's not what you were asking, but I'm just completing the thought, and now thinking about the colors surrounding me, and that I like.
For example, a lot of times I use color to accent a room, but emphasize wood, or use off-white's as a backdrop.
My bedroom, growing up, had 2 walls with wallpaper, and the other 2 were wood or glass. The wallpaper was off-white, yellow, and some other touches of color. One wall was a sliding glass door with real wood paneling at the edges, and the other wall had my door, and wooden closet doors, with what was left the same real wood paneling. That worked well for me.
I may make my kitchen very pale yellow. I always said that I wanted a mango kitchen, but I may use items in those colors, and not the walls. My favorite Kitchen Aid was in tangerine. OR, and I kind of favor this, I will make it S.W. or Italian-ish with terra cotta flooring...even if fake. Then, any colors can decorate. I have copper items for it, and a colorful Italian-ish pitcher that I can see on the corner of the counter to put sprays of freshly picked herbs in to keep them fresh. I have a set of tiles to make a picture with...they are California quail.
Living room - I used to say pale beige-ish, now I think off-white. The living room is my 'beachy' room, and I have items packed away for it to decorate. That's why I thought of sand color for the walls, but I think that off-white would work, too?
Probably the same in the hallways, to keep them open looking?
The 2nd bedroom is the smaller one, by quite a bit, maybe something like my old bedroom, but off-white on the non-colored walls, or maybe wood. I don't want to make it look smaller than it is. I plan for curtains over a window shade on the window. Ones that will billow in the breeze. :-) All of my childhood books will go on the shelves in there, and other items from that time. A quilt, etc.
Possibly wood in the office. We have some of that antique tongue in groove wooden paneling from the old ice house. So, if not the whole room, at least a feature wall. The other walls, if I go that route? Not sure.
I plan to have fun in the laundry room! :-) Don't be surprised if it's lavender with a pale blue door! Who's going to be in my laundry room judging me? ;-)
I have 2 1/2 bathrooms. I want mine to be southwest-ish. The walls may be off-white, I don't know, but items will be terra cotta (I want the floor that color.) with a bit of turquoise, a bit of wood somewhere...maybe the thing for my towels, and possibly some white eyelet to break things up. What color towels would go? Warm colors like burnt orange? Mixed? What colors if mixed? I have a beautiful terra-cotta and turquoise vase to start it with, and that multi-colored sink. I have thought of those murals, and a faux window with a S.W. view, but that probably won't happen. They are just cool.
The guest bathroom is up for grabs. I may make it pastels, copying a really pretty bathroom at a lake rental, because I have some decorative tiles for the wall. Or not.
The 1/2 bath is the one with access from the outside. I want it to stand out, but not be girly at all. Any ideas are welcome. It's very small, so it will be easy to decorate. The toilet/sink are white.
My bedroom keeps changing. I used to think that a dappled green would be nice, like a forest. Now, I'm not sure that I like that at all. I have the place for the fireplace, but no fireplace as yet, and who knows when. But, I've always pictured it as warm adobe. Wider as it comes down, rounded, not sharp. With a couch facing it. I had a Victorian couch in the late 70's, through the 80's, that would now be perfect, except that I don't have it anymore.
The important point is that I don't want a constant theme to flow through the house. Been there, done that. I want each room to have it's own character. I don't mind being in Italy in my kitchen, the beach in my living room, and the S.W. in my bathroom.
Aren't you sorry that you got me thinking? ;-)
Yes, it sounds like you have an erosion problem, too. Darn.
I'm not sure about the pipe, but don't think that we can do it ourselves.
Those sound like problems.
Hopefully, all will work out well for us both. Have a wonderful, stress-free week!
