As for the pie, it sounds very good. I wouldn't be using the nuts or bourbon, either, so am glad to hear that it can be made without them.

If you can, I'd love to have your sister's recipe. It sounds good, and I've been looking for a new tradition on Derby Day.

My mom and I used to wear fancy hats and watch it on television. Even near the end we did the same on the phone. We'd watch the horses come out and try to choose the winner by name, looks, or attitude. It was fun, but since she's been gone I've wished to do something else.
